I. General Guidelines
I. General Guidelines
You will be doing a number of writing assignments this semester. As it is outlined in your syllabus, all compositions must have the following format. These are normal standards for academic work.
The paper should:
- be written on a computer in MS-Word Format
- be double-spaced,
- have 1-inch margin borders (note that MS Word automatically sets right and left margins at 1.25”, so you will need to change this!)
- be in Times or Times New Roman 12 pt font.
- be spell-checked (guidelines are below)
- be formatted as indicated at the bottom of this page of guidelines
Remember that two drafts are required to complete these assignments. I will review the first draft and note needed changes with symbols from a correction key. You will then turn in a re-written second draft, together with your first draft, to receive a grade. Both drafts are required to complete these assignments. In order to get the best possible grade on your assignment, you should save a copy of your first draft on a computer disk. This will help avoid any unnecessary new errors on your second, final draft.
You should use MLA (Modern Language Association) format for your papers. This format stipulates that papers have the following (double-spaced) headings:
Student's Name
Instructor’s Name (Herr . .. / Frau . . . / Dr. . .. )
Course Name (Deutsch 102)
Date (auf Deutsch: 2. Januar 2011)
Centered Title
(All papers should have a good one into which you have put some thought.)
